I know this is "last minute" but we want to offer the class to members of the group as a PSNUG special. The class is Novell course 3071, SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Fundamentals. It is a 3-day class for students who have little or no experience with Linux. The link below takes you to the full description of the course. http://www.novell.com/training/courseware/ts_proj_info.jsp?pid=19822 The class is next week, Wednesday-Friday, October 15-17. We want to offer the class for $475 for PSNUG members. We want to emphasize that this class is the fundamentals class. Only the topics described in the link above will be covered. I need to order the student kits by Wednesday, October 7. This is only 2 days notice, but we hope the timing is good for someone. Will you please pass this on? OES2 SP1 (NW and Linux) public beta is downloadable from Novell's web site, www.novell.com/beta. The Linux part REQUIRES SLES 10 SP2, not SP1 or earlier. OES2 (plain) will not run on SLES 10 SP2. Please do keep in mind a couple of things. One is the obvious that this is a beta and unfinished at that. As Novell keeps saying about betas, do not put this material into your production environment. They are correct, even a simple schema extension may wreck havoc later on. The other is this is also an opportunity for you to provide strong feedback to Novell on what you see. A caution. The migration tools vary considerably in being ready. The identity migration part (move eDir, files, et al. from one box to another and preserve all names/numbers) in particular is not ready, so you have been informed. However, yesterday I redid an experiment to take a fully patched OES2/Linux machine and upgrade it to OES2 SP1, in-place (meaning install SLES 10 SP2 as an update and simultaneously OES2 SP1 as an "add-on product"). That worked perfectly, with only one small bug about finding an on-disk copy of the OES2 SP1 iso image. Do have a good time poking beta 4, and let Novell have the feedback (sooner rather than later, concrete is setting). I can loan you a GPS for the day and you can go out mapping, then I'll show you how to load it onto OSM!
